Piccadilly Opticians Birmingham has been getting into the festive spirit by injecting some colour and fun into the community by offering a free face painting event for everyone.
On Saturday 4th December 2010 the creative window display advertising a FREE FACE PAINTING DAY opposite Piccadilly Opticians Birmingham in Piccadilly Arcade made a lot of busy Christmas shoppers stop and think! Everyone was welcome to pop in to visit friendly face painter Ms. Joanne Metcalfe. 
A free, family orientated event was the perfect opportunity for visitors and shoppers in the city to explore the Arcade to see what the nest of shops has to offer. A number of independent jewellers, gift shops, a florist and beauty salons surround Piccadilly Opticians, making the arcade buzzing throughout this busy, cheerful, gift buying season. With the annual German markets proudly sat on New Street at the tip of the Arcade, there are constantly new people being introduced to the heritage of the Arcade every day.
Throughout the one day event, selections of face painting designs were available to choose from, some with a Christmas theme, others with a colourful, tribal theme. Experienced face painter Ms. Metcalfe built a great rapport both with the children and adults who had their faces transformed into beautiful butterflies, others into glittery snowmen and there was lots of holly to go around too! Lots of fun was had by all and it was a an enjoyable means of giving the citizens of Birmingham who were attempting to begin their Christmas shopping in the sub zero weather conditions a little break courtesy of the only independent Opticians in the heart of the city. Everyone appreciated the festive treat and popped in to view the latest collections of spectacles too. Face paint added colour to the faces of people of all ages, quite literally in the frosty, icy weather conditions leaving smiles all around!
