PICCADILLY OPTICIANS VISITS MIDO 2012

Once again it’s that time of year again  – a serious heavenly expedition to Milan, Italy for the world famous Optical show Mido.

It’s an exhausting whirl of eye wear fashion, and new looks, and it’s our passion to scope out what’s hot and what’s not, what you’ll love and want to wear for 2012, all this over two long days and too little sleep!  It’s a dirty job but someone’s got to do it!

We headed straight to the optical village to decide who and what we want to see, but they have out done themselves again, so much choice.

Booked appointment with legendary frame makers

Moscot is a fourth generation family-owned and operated company. A New York City institution for nearly 100 years and a global lifestyle brand known worldwide for its iconic eyewear, and regularly seen on celebrities such as Johnny Depp, Paul Rudd, Billy Crudup, Chloe Sevigny, and Justin Timerberlake.

The frames in The Moscot Originals Collection are named after Moscot family members, are family member’s nicknames, or are Yiddish words that have evolved into “Moscot-isms.” The Moscot Spirit Collection are either named after Moscot family members or friends, or are named with an archetypical Moscot customer in mind – its lines, shape and characteristics as unique as the person who chooses to wear it.

Claire Goldsmith frames soon to be available at Piccadilly Opticians Birmingham

Claire Goldsmith, who revived her grandfather, Oliver Goldsmith's, label five years ago has just launched her own eyewear brand - CG. Her debut collection, entitled Legacy, is just the thing for specs wearers who are looking for something a bit different. Be it two-tone or retro-inspired Buddy Holly-esque tortoiseshell frames, this is a label that does away with any geeky misconceptions about glasses wearers. "The designs we have been reproducing for the past 5 years have been from the archive of my grandfather and uncle, created over 40 years ago," said Goldsmith. "Whilst they will always hold a place in fashion history, my vision for the future lies in new design."
and boy do they deliver!

Oliver Goldsmith, Collected Views, simply outstanding. Mr Goldsmith is some one i look up too, dedicated to his collection, and passionate about customer service, He has even inviting us to his home town to view the collection...

Stand Outs !!!

Deep rims, rounded shapes, thinner sides, and less decoration than we’ve been used to over the past four or five years. Very little bling, more engraving and marbled materials, and colour everywhere! Colour is layered, mixed, laminated, and there are fab combinations like blue frame fronts with yellow sides, purple with orange – not for the faint hearted but lots of fun!! The defining shape has joints at the top of the frame, with a straight top rim. Subtle details like this give you the look of the season.

2012 is going to be still retro, but we’re leaving behind the classic tortoiseshells and blacks of the past couple of years, and moving on to a Seventies/Eighties vibe. Think roller discos, power dressing and Dynasty! Second time around, it’s fresh and funky for those who don’t remember it from the first time around!

Hope you enjoyed !!
